Hi,
I'm looking over my summer calendar and we have a lot of parties scheduled. Does anybody have any good cheap boy/girl gift ideas ( ages 4 - 7 ). I'm sick of spending 20 dollars everytime we have to go to a birthday party. Thanks.

I usually find sale items at the stores and stock up. I have a box full of toys that I picked up cheap. Then I let my oldest pick out one to give his friend or dad's other kids. I have found some awesome deals at Target when they clearance out their items. They usually have a sale a few weeks after Christmas and then right after summer I believe. My son just took a huge box of sidewalk chalk to a birthday party that I picked up for $1 last year.
Thanks! That's a great idea. I didn't even think of the dollar bins at Target. Sometimes you can find really great deals. I'm always amazed at how much money people spend on other kids birthday gifts. However, there seems to be a "No gifts please" trend starting and I think it is great!
Oh my gosh - $20 a party? Way too much. I actually go to my local toy consignment shop/thrift store. They usually have toys that haven't even been opened or books.
And at Benjamin's best friend's birthday party this week I saw THE cutest present for a little girl - it was a shoe box (decorated with paper and sparkles) and filled with dress up clothes (items you could find in your closet or lying around in the basement - like old heels or skirts).
Good luck, hope that helps.
I hate that. It gets so expensive after awhile. I usually stock up on Hot Wheels ($1 at Target) and make cute boxes for them. Also, books are a good gift. The thin "learning to read" type books are usually fairly cheap.
Mostly i gift a self made doll to little girls because girls like doll. if you try some then you can easily make a doll it is cheap and best option i think.
I am also one that stocks up when a clearance is going on. We have a used bookstore in town, and some of the books look so new that you wouldn't ever be able to tell they were used, and we can usually get them for less than $2.
I tried to have a "no gifts" party, but nobody listens. It's actually upsetting when you sit your child down and explain to them that they already have plenty of stuff, and the party is their gift, and then people bring gifts when I wrote on all of the invitations, "NO GIFTS PLEASE. We just want you to come and have a good time!" I don't want any more toys in our house as it is!
I think this year I'm going to write something to the effect of, "No gifts please. I'm very serious about this. You will not be allowed to have cake if you bring a gift." Think it'll work? ;)
Hello,
I found a great online store that sells hand made items for a great price. If you need a cheap but nice gift you could look there. She will also customize!
